Accountability

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” –  I John 1:9 (KJV)

None of us are exempt from failures, for there are no perfect people. We will not always get it right, but that is no excuse to wallow in our mess. We have to see ourselves in our mess and take ownership.  Stop playing the blame game by saying, “It is everybody except us.”  Our selfish acts can destroy people and friendships.  We must ACCOUNT for what we do, CONFESS our sins and faults, then ACCEPT God’s consequences.

There will be hurdles and obstacles throughout life, but we cannot keep blaming the devil for everything that goes wrong in our lives.  We mess up when we put our hands on situations that God already has under control. Hands off! Let go; let God!  How can we want to be more Christ-like, have Christ-like experiences, but we do not want to suffer like Christ?

We must learn to humble ourselves because everything in life is not a given.  Humility is not thinking less of ourselves, but thinking of ourselves less!  Stop taking things for granted for the sake of comfort and routine.  Stop itemizing and keeping score of life’s highs and lows.  These things are less important and serve no purpose.  It will only place limitations on what we can do and on what God wants to do for us.
